Robert Heller received his doctorate in counseling psychology from Boston University and became licensed in both Massachusetts and Florida. Dr. Robert Heller worked with children, adolescents and families in his capacity as a certified school psychologist and has taught counseling and psychology at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
Dr. Robert Heller was awarded the distinguished diplomate in behavioral psychology by the American Board of Behavioral Psychology and then by the American Board of Professional Psychology in recognition of achieving the highest standards and competencies in professional psychology.
Robert Heller’s clinical orientation is known as “cognitive behavioral therapy”. He trained personally with the founder of Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy, Dr. Albert Ellis and is a certified fellow and training supervisor of the Albert Ellis Institute.
Dr. Robert Heller received advanced training in the use of hypnosis and earned certification as a “hypnosis consultant”. He uses hypnosis both as a separate treatment approach and often incorporate it in his work with clinical and non-clinical clients.
Robert Heller was trained by Dr. Francine Shapiro, the founder of EMDR and holds the Level 2 Certificate. EMDR is a specialized method, which can be very effective in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
As a former musician, Robert Heller has performed in front of large audiences and, as a psychologist later worked with many performing artists privately and conducted workshops on “Performance Anxiety” for the Berkeley College of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music.
As an athlete, Dr. Robert Heller competed in numerous individual and team sports throughout his youth and than specialized in tennis, playing on both high school and college varsity teams. He has taught tennis, competed regularly in tournaments and has won several local and statewide titles. Dr. Robert Heller is certified as both a tennis teaching professional through the USPTA and as a personal fitness instructor. Currently located in Boca Raton, Florida, Dr. Robert Heller spends part of his professional time in working with recreational, elite and professional athletes on and off the court to help them perform at their best.
Dr. Robert Heller has been on the faculty and given talks and workshops at national conferences and well as to local public and private facilities and organizations. Robert Heller was also an adjunct professor at Lynn University where he taught Sports Psychology and Applied Counseling Skills.
